Building A Sustainable Online Business

Today’s topic will be about how you can and should build a sustainable online business for yourself. This is a mistake which i think many Internet Marketers have committed including myself. The concept of what’s a online business was wrong right from the start.

Therefore, if you are reading this and you are just being to get your feet wet with Internet Marketing, then make sure you read this post carefully because this will affect how you build your online empire forever! If you are able an experience marketer, then maybe this post might change your concept a little..

For me, building a business used to be earning as much money as possible in the shortest amount of time. If i want to hit $10,000 in profit a month, i would simply focus on what i am good at and build my income upwards. For example, i used to be pretty good in Adwords… So Adwords was all my focus… Adwords was all i did all day and i got pretty successful at it. I manage to build a 5 figure income quickly with Adwords and i was satisfied with my achievement. I thought i had build and established my online business.

But i was wrong… in fact dead wrong… One fine day the Google slap came along and BAM… 90% of my income was lost… Lucky this happened to me when i had no liability yet.. No family, no expenses, no bills, no installment, no car, no houses.. Imagine if it happen to you when you had all the bills to pay and your family to feed.. Its gonna be a darn hard blow..

The lesson i learnt was that i was building my house (business) straight up.. I build a thin house with only one pillar supporting the entireĀ  roof. When the pillar toppled, the whole house collapsed. In reality, nobody builds a house upwards in a straight line.

The same applied for online business. We need to build many pillars to support the roof and make the base as wide as possible so that we are covered from all angles. Even if one pillar topples, the roof would not collapse completely and there’s still time to mend the house..

The more pillars you have for your house, the more wide the base is, the stronger and steadier your house would be. No doubt, it would take a much longer time and definitely much more effort to reach your target income.. but think about it.. Would you want a business that can last or would you want a business that come and go equally fast?

I learnt the lesson of building my house straight up and the house eventually collapse and now i’m starting to build my house again. But this time i’m taking more time to build a solid and wide base with as many pillars as possible before moving up to the roof..

This pillars i am talking about is Traffic Sources. The more traffic sources you have in your business bringing you income, the more stable your business will be. Even if one pillar breaks, you still have many others to tide you over. I’m really starting to see this concept after 2 years of being in this business. So start your business on the right foot from the beginning…

wow.. very well said .
put it simply diversify – diversify the traffic source, diversify the stream of income..

I really like your pillar analogy,

thanks for sharing your thought.

Hi Ivan,

I want to ask the definition of “incentivized offer”…I’m abit confused about this aspect and would like to hear from you in this regard.

Scenario 1:
Does setting up an optin page with free ebooks or report that then redirects to the CPA offer is considered an incentivized offer? I just want to build a list but at the same time redirect my subscribers to the CPA offer.

Scenario 2:
How about landing page that includes a squeeze page (optin) that redirects to “thank you” for subscribing” page that then contains links to main CPA offer ? Does that considered an incentivized traffic too?

Scenario 3:
Once I managed get the subscribers email, my autoresponder will
include emails which contain links to CPA offers. In your experience, which type of CPA offer is best using email marketing method?

Just want to ask these because I’m new to CPA marketing and do not wish to get my CPA account banned. Thanks in advance.
