My Option Strategy Part 1

February 15, 2008 By: Ivan Ong Category: Options Trading No Comments →

Realised i hasn’t blog about options trading for a long long time. Today i am going to reveal to you my strategy to trading and how you can use it to profit from the stock market consistently. Listen up,

Shorting Naked Put

Do you know what that terms mean? Shorting naked put is actually a strategy widely known by traders and its a really simple strategy.

Shorting means selling and what i do in trading is actually selling naked put options.

Why Selling Put Options Literally Increases Your Chance Of Winning by 75%?

  • You win when the stock market goes up.
  • You win when the stock market goes sideway.
  • If case you are all wrong in your prediction, you still win when the stock market drops, but not yet reached your strike price.
  • You will only lose when the stock market drops below your strike price.

Does that ratio makes your chances of profiting to 75%?

Right now, with 75% chance of winning, the winning strategy to increase your chance of profiting to 99% comes in when you have to decide what strike price you have to sell your options for in order for the stock market to not reach your strike price.

Risk Of Losing

  • Your only risk of losing is greed.
  • You want more profit margin and thus violate the rules.
  • The stock market crash because of another 9/11 incident.
  • Corrective measures were not done properly when market is going against you.
  • You fear losing.

These are your risks of losing. However, with proper trading discipline, all these can easily be avoided.

What have i not covered? There seems just too much to talk about. I’ll stop now and continue with part 2 the next time round.

Cheers!

Happy 2008… But What Does It Means To You?

December 31, 2007 By: Ivan Ong Category: Options Trading, Internet Marketing No Comments →

One more day and it’ll be 2008. Where are you heading to for the final countdown? Hanging out with friends? Going downtown for the hottest countdown party? Do anything but stay home and be stuck on the Internet yeah? Take a one day break from the Internet and enjoy the last day of 2007!

Been reading a lot of blogs lately and seen a lot of people setting goals for and target for 2008 so i’m gonna set mine too! Gonna be a short and simple goal which i hope i can achieve it without much difficulty. Here goes:

  • Earn more at my CPA offers! (DUH!) The question here is how much more and HOW am i going to achieve that goal that i have set for myself?

Because i am currently studying in University, i am planning to just launch one campaign everyday after school before i do anything else. I’m also planning to do more extensive tracking of my keyword results by purchasing to affiliate radar and intend to figure out how Google Adwords actually works. I suppose i am missing out a lot of commissions by not advertising on Google Adwords. I’m planning to increase my net earnings to 4 figure ( excluding the decimals of course) in 2008.2.

  • Continue the good profits that i have made in Options Trading! Last month i did a 6.6% profit return on my capital which is already a thousand times better then putting my money in the bank which only gives 0.125% per annum. So i’ll continue to trade and aim to hit 5 figure in my options account in 2008. :)

Yup, that’s about all that i have to say. What are your goals? leave a linkback to my blog from your blog post so that i can go take a look at what’s your goal for 2008!

All the best!

Major Mistake…

December 13, 2007 By: Ivan Ong Category: Options Trading No Comments →

Oh well, if you all are following the US market, the Fed just recently announced the interest rate cute 2 days ago and investors were not really happy with the little cut.

Stocks plunge all the way downwards and eventually lost 2.6%.

So what was my major mistake?

As i was too busy on CPA to monitor the current US market news. I didn’t know that the Fed was going to make the announcement on that day. Soo Chin (my girlfriend) din know either and the we sillyly went to sell another put options hoping to increase our profit margin for the month. When market plunge, we close our position to take a lost of $150USD, thus  bringing our profit margin for the month to 6.6%.

One very important thing to highlight here is that its is crucial and important to keep track of what the US financial sector is doing and what’s happening. What i do is that i just read the headlines of Yahoo news everyday and that should be sufficient for you.  It only takes 10 mins to read all the news that’s in Yahoo News.

Yup, hopefully for all those doing options trading, remember to keep yourself updated on the US market no matter how busy you are. Just spare 10 mins to do so everyday and you’ll be assured of success. :)

Market Reversal For The US.. Good Sign? Bad Sign?

December 06, 2007 By: Ivan Ong Category: S&P 500 recap, Options Trading No Comments →

Yesterday, the Market (US) continued its rally since the market reversed into a new uptrend when I reported it last Thursday.

The driving forces behind the rally are:

1) Oil prices have dived since reaching their peak at $99. Crude oil now stands at $88 and weakening further

2) Optimism that the FED will continue cutting interest rates this month by another 25-50 basis points

3) A freeze on mortgage rates: A formal announcement of the Bush administration’s mortgage plan will come Thursday, but media reports said it involves freezing interest rates on some subprime mortgages for five years in an effort to combat a soaring tide of foreclosures.

4) December is traditionally a rally month (Santa Clause Rally). It’s fair to say that a holiday rally is in full swing. Since the market bottomed on Nov. 26, the Dow has jumped more than 700 points, or 5.5%, and has seen gains in five of the last seven sessions. The S&P 500 is up 5.4% in the last seven sessions, and the Nasdaq is up 4.8%.

5) Good economic news yesterday on JOB CREATION (189,000 jobs were added in Nov compared to estimates of 77,500 jobs) and PRODUCTIVITY (productivity rose 6.3% compared to a 4.9% estimate) shows that recession talk was overdone and it is highly unlikely the US will go into recession.

As you can see, I am overweight on FINANCIAL STOCKS in the WA portfolio as this sector has been way oversold and represent the most upside the next 1-2 years. Another stock that I am waiting to go back in again is Bear Sterns (BSC).

Well, best time to be selling Put Options now.. earn some cash this Christmas! :)

Options Trading - How It All Started

November 23, 2007 By: Ivan Ong Category: Options Trading No Comments →

This is probably my first official post after so long. As you can see, i have helped my blog to change its clothes and have updated many things inside to encompass 3 major themes:

1) Options Trading - How i managed to beat all the professionals in the market and earn consistent profits from the US market.

2) Internet Marketing - As i am still new in this current new niche that i am in, will be updating on all the failures and success in my blog so that you can learn from both the good and bad things to do online.

3) Some random post of my relationship with my girlfriend - the random times we spend together.

Alright, back to the main topic.

How did i start to know and learn about Options Trading

I remember back then it was in June 2007 that i attended a seminar conducted by our own Singapore Internet Marketer Fabien Lim which was organised by Success Resources. I went to the seminar alone and as usual, i network with other people and chatted with them. :)

I went up to these 2 malay guys who were chatting and said hi to them and joined in the conversation. When i asked what they were doing, one of them , Rizal which eventually became my mentor said he was a full time trading trading in the US market. I got super excited and knew that he was someone which i want to make friends with.

I chatted with him throughout the seminar and eventually got him to agree to teach me and soo chin the art of trading. Of course, i had to pay him for the valuable trade secrets and to compensate him for the time spent on us.

It was the most expensive course that i had ever paid to learn something ( I paid $3000 ) but yet it was the most valuable course that i have ever learnt. It was the lessons of my future, my dreams.

After learning the art, he gave me his virtual trading account and we started trading for 5 months. Throughout, he gave me unlimited help support and answered all my questions that were in my head when i was trading.

Fast forward to now, Nov 2007.

We managed to source for enough money and funded our own accont with Interactive Brokers and we currently into the first month of trading.

Even though the US market is trending downwards due to the credit woes and the subprime market issue, we still managed to secure a profit of 10% in our very first month. Our local bank in Singapore only gave us 2% per annum. That’s quite pathetic isn’t it? haha

That’s the power of Options Trading. It allows you to profit no whatever where the market is heading. Downwards, sidewards, upwards, anywards.

That’s my story of how i started Options Trading. Slowly, i will be revealing my trade secrets to you as i proceed on to post on my blog.  Stay tuned :)
