Changes From Google Adwords

August 23, 2008 By: Ivan Ong Category: PPC No Comments →

In 2005, many Internet Marketers dreams and hope were dashed when Google Adwords introduce the Quality Score system to give people a good user experience. 3 years later, Google has changed and improved a lot on their quality score system and in Aug 2008, Google Adwords is going to update their Quality Score. Here’s what they will be changing:

1) Min Bids will be changed to Min Front Page bids.

This is good news to us. Because we will now know what is the minimum amount we have to bid in order to get into the front page of the Google search engine for that particular keyword. This will enable us to know how competitive the niche is and we can then adjust our bids to get into the front page.

2) There will no longer be such a thing call Inactive For Search status. Instead, every keyword will have its chance of appearing in the Google search engine. However, you might be getting like only one click a day or even lesser. ha

You could read more about Google update right from Google’s blog.

Be A Adwords Friendly Affiliate

July 28, 2008 By: Ivan Ong Category: PPC 1 Comment →

I know Internet Marketers keep talking on market research, spying on your competitors to see what kind of landing page they are using and the ads they have. Then you’ll simply modify their landing page to make it better and rank higher then the keywords they are bidding on. In this way, you could be spending much lesser in PPC expenses, and getting more sales then your competitors.

However, have you ever thought what you are doing when you are happily clicking on other people’s advertisement? You are causing them money everything you click on that Google Adwords Ads! I know you could be mean and want to blow their budget away as quickly as possible so that your ads will appear on the 1st. But have you wonder if other people might also be clicking on your ads as well to blow through your budget and get you off the sponsored ads for the day?

So… we should all help one another. Afterall, we are all trying to make a decent living online and we as Internet Marketers, could help by not clicking on their Google Ads. What we could do is simply to right click on the ads and choose “copy link location” and paste it into your browser. ( You have to be using Firefox Mozilla to do this) This way, you could save your fellow Internet Markerer some clicks on untargeted audience.

Another way of spying on yor competitors is to use www.SpyFu.com . You can sign up for a free account and spy on your competitors using the same method. There will not be any clicks on Google ads if you spy on your competitors this way.

Brad Callen has some training videos on how you can further use spyfu to help you in spying your competitors. Take a look when you can! :)

Google Adwords Editor - Your Next Best Friend

July 26, 2008 By: Ivan Ong Category: google adwords, PPC 1 Comment →

Are you using Google Editor for your Google Adwords Campaigns? Because if you aren’t, then you gotta slap yourself for not doing so. Because Google Editor will make setting up your Google Campaigns 10x faster than if you were to do it yourself via the Google Adwords interface.

Anyway, Adwords Editor is a free desktop application provided by Google for you to mange all your Adwords account offline. You can download the Adwords Editor here: http://www.google.com/intl/en/adwordseditor/

Today i will be talking about a powerful feature in Google Adwords Editor that is giving me the high CTR and that is the keyword groupers function. You can locate this function by going to the Tools icon at the top and select theĀ  keyword grouper.

What this tool does is to help you filter your keyword list and separate your keywords into different adgroups according to what Google think is relevant. On top of that, Adwords Editor even helps you to create separate adgroups for you automatically at a click of your mouse. This function has helped me to get super high CTR by grouping keywords into targeted adgroups and writing targeted ads to the adgroup.

Some people have asked me how i manage to get my CTR at 7-10% so easily. This is the secret. :) Hope it helps!

By the way, if you have completely no idea what i was talking about, creator of LP Gen Jonathan Van Clute, has created a video on how to use the keyword grouper using Adwords Editor, so check it out at the link below. :)

Knowing When To Scrapped That “GREAT” Campaign

July 25, 2008 By: Ivan Ong Category: PPC No Comments →

You reserched your niche and find out what your competitors are doing on their landing page. You swipe their profiting keywords and ads using Affiliate Elite. You create a landing page which seems 10x better then your competitors. You optimise your landing page so that Google will love you… You then carry on to do your keyword research and come out with a list of long targeted keywords and you grouped all your keywords so super tightly in order to get that high CTR. You are all set to go and you launched your campaigns. You are getting GREAT for your quality score in Google. Wow… you are feeling happy.

*BAM* after one day, you campaigns gives you 100 clicks and you get 0 sales. You get a high CTR but no sales. You wonder why you aren’t making the sales. You give it another shot, increase your campaign budget and your bid price a little. *BAM* you get whacked again… 0 sales.

I know you have done a lot of work prior to the launch to do your keyword research and landing page and working so hard to get that GREAT QS and watching your minimum bids dropping.

But if you aren’t making sales no matter how many clicks you are getting, scrapped that freaking campaigns and start a new one all over again!

As a rule of thumb, i usually scrapped my campaigns when i have spend more then 2x the commission of the product. Meaning, if i were promoting a product that pays me $30 per sale, i would scrapped the campaign if i have not gotten any sale at $60.

Sometimes a niche just doesn’t convert for you and it happens all the time. So you have to be hard on yourself and stop the campaign and move on. You could just chanced upon a niche that could be making you tons of money.

“Great” For Your Google Adwords Quality Score

July 24, 2008 By: Ivan Ong Category: PPC, Affiliate Marketing 3 Comments →

This is the word that most people advertising with Google Adwords would absolutely love to see on their campaigns. This would mean that Google love your ads, love your keywords, love your landing page and reward you with a Great Quality Score so that you not only rank higher, but you pay lesser then your competitors with only OK or Poor quality score.

This quality score thing has made people even more money, but it has also caused many people to get back to their day job because they get slapped whenever they tried to set up a campaign.

I’ve been playing around with Google Adwords for a while and have noticed some interesting facts about Google Adwords that i would like to share with you.

Let me explain what happen to me in my Google Adwords account. I set up a campaign 2 days ago on Google Adwords but i only got OK for all my quality score.

However, after running my campaigns for 2 days, my Quality score all changed to GREAT and the reason why was mainly because i was getting super high click through rates (CTR). I was getting 7.17% CTR campaign wide and i suppose that’s how Google rewarded me with a GREAT QS and my minimum bids dropped to $0.04 to $0.05

So it doesn’t really matter if your landing page ain’t getting the best quality score that you are looking for. Getting a OK QS and working hard at organising your campaigns well to get a high CTR campaign will help you to get that Great that you wanted.

So after this experience, i can conclude that having a high CTR will help alot in your Google Adwords Quality Score so its definitely worth it to spend some time organising your campaign instead of lumping everything in one adgroup and hope for a high CTR.

I will be posting more findings that i have from Google Adwords so stay tuned as i attempt to dominate Google Adwords Quality Score findings.
