  1. # 1 William Mah Says:
Hello Ivan, Like to ask… you mentioned PPC CPA mktg is a numbers game… so like to ask how many campaigns you’ve actually failed at before you became successful?

Countless… I actually lost count of how many campaigns i have failed… But the number of campaigns i have failed is probably less than 100? haha

thanks for answering my questions! good stuff!

No problem… Keep them coming Peter!

Hi Ivan, Congrats to you. Really good achievements and thanks for
sharing CPA/PPC tips to us.Do you mind sharing1) How many zip/email submit type of campaigns and how many high payout (free trial, CPS) campaigns in order to generate your current income now?2) How do you know whether the offer will be profitable? Does your AM share the top converting offer or you have to find it yourself?

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

Hey Jonathan… Thanks for your encouragement… Sharing is just a way of giving back whatever i have learn through the past one year.. So i’m happy sharing as long as you got questions to ask.

1) Seriously, you just need ONE campaign and you can take your income up to my level. However, scaling and ramping up a successful campaigns takes practice and more learning but once you understand the strategies behind ramping, all it takes it just one golden nugget campaign… Amit has only 3 profitable campaigns to bring his income up to 2.4 million a year… Read more about the process of ramping up a campaign here.

2)  The only way to know if a offer is profitable is to test… Of coz, you can ask your AM for conversion rate and epc but the most accurate way of knowing if an offer is profitable, is to launch a campaign and look at the conversion yourself. What work for you might not work for others and what worked for others might not work for you…

Hi Ivan, Another question:1) You mentioned that your revenue from email/zip submit offer can go up to USD 3,300. Is that from one offer or many offers combined together?2) Do you put one email/zip submit offer or many offers in a landing page? Do you use opt-in?

    Many thanks,
    Jonathan

Oh Jonathan with more questions…

1) Its from 2 offers that i am running…

2) I only do one offer per landing page.. I am collecting opt in for one offer though and have gotten a few hundred dollars extra in pure profits every month just by sending emails to them… ha The money is in the list that responses!

Hi Ivan, How do you get a good quality score? I have keywords with low quality score, on keyword relevance. The QS shows landing page and load times are ok. I have tried putting the keyword in the ad but it does not make much difference.

Also, can you show us an example of a mini-site or landing page that has a high quality score?

I get a good quality score by building mini-sites with articles pages and the few must have pages like privacy policy, about us, contact us, articles page, sitemap.. All these are necessary in giving you a good quality score for your landing page. Stuffing keywords on your landing page does not work on Google… You could try that on MSN though, i heard this strategy works for them. However, the most most important method of getting a good quality score in the long run is to build a full blown site on your profitable campaign and keep adding fresh new articles every few days and do SEO for your website. Its all about revelancy… Read about how i get 10/10 Quality Score here

  1. # 6 Kenneth Says:
Hey Ivan, What are the most important metrics to pay attention to when it comes to PPC?

    Ken

Hey Kenneth, the most important metrics that i pay attention to is your cost per conversion. We are in there because we want to make a profit and if cost per conversion is higher then the payout, then there’s no point in using Google Adwords at all. However, to determine campaign success, i would say CTR is the most important factor because CTR plays a really significant contribution to your quality score and your CPC which in turn affects your profitability. I have talked alot about CTR in my previous posts.

Keep them coming!

Hi Ivan,

I have quite a number of questions…quite basic qns as I am a total newbie. Haha really hope you can answer as many as you can. (Wish you can start a forum soon!)

a. How do you cloak your affiliate links?

b. How would you know the conversion tracking code is placed at the merchant end? Anyway to verify before you start sending clicks to them?

c. When testing the offers, do you buy a new domain for each offer you test? E.g googleiphoneringtone.com, babyfreeoffers.com etc?

d. What is the average ad position we need aim for? Would the last ad on the first page still make us money?

e. On average, how many pages of content articles do you put up before testing the offer? Do you upload these “testing” content at one go?

f. What is the minimum payout for you before even considering testing the offer? Is it anything above $1?

Thanks a lot!

I really got tons of questions more, but hope you can share some for now.

Harlow Ivan,

Do you have any forumale when you target testing an offer? Like you mentioned, you prefer more long term niches. Just a general qns what kind of niches is suitable for CPA offers/Zip submit. Do you have more success with computer, dating or health niches for some services that people need to try online?

Also are you using only one network or many to hit your $20+k per month profit?

Lastly, does all your ad groups (I believe 1 keyword right?) all goes to the same landing page in a campaign?

Thanks for your blog. It really inspire me to want to succeed as well!

Hi Ivan,

I have a few more questions if you don’t mind. Thought I will just ask them now instead of later.

a. You mentioned you have many failed campaigns. What do you think is the reason for these failed campaigns? Competition? The niche don’t convert or the traffic demand is too little?

b. What are the factors in your opinion that result in your CPA successes?

c. Do you see CPA a long term continuing online? Because I read some Acai Berry ads and seems like the FTC is coming down hard on some of the networks soon.

d. What kind of html editors do you use? Or you use wordpress?

e. Do you have any other advice for newbies like myself?

Thanks a lot. Your Q&A session is the ones that really help me the most to understand more about this biz.
