My Journey To Become A Super Affiliate

August flew past and its yet another new month again. School’s getting more and more hectic with all the projects getting due and assignments deadline moving closer and closer. Its been 5 weeks into school and i can’t wait for school to end in week 13 and Nov 25th is my last paper. haha.. Can’t wait.

August was a rather ok month as i maintain my Clickbank earnings at $5k plus. It did increase like $100+ though, from the previous month of $5244. So its still an improvement afterall.

One more thing is that i mention i was looking into Ebay Partner Network, i did manage to generate a revenue of $923 from EPN for the month of August 2008.

So my total income for August 2008 is $5396.53 + $923 = US$6319.53

I’m slowly moving into the 5 figure a month income soon and i’m pretty sure i’ll hit it by the end of 2008.

For month 3 of Clickbank products, i have decided the product to be a product that has been profitable for me for a month now and it has consistent sales throughout the month.

Its a Xbox 360 repair guide and i use a review page to promote this product putting GAMERBOTS as the number one choice of my review page. Whenever you start a business, demoralisation and depression often tend to kick you hard in your face, asking you to give this shit up because its simply not working. You lost money on Google adwords and lost money promoting anything on the Internet.

Well, i get depressed and demoralised all the time. When i spend so much time launching a campaign and it just simply and totally failed. I’ll go into depression mode, thinking maybe Internet Marketing isn’t for me after all. However, reality will soon struck into my mind about getting a job with my “not so good” degree and work for 40 yrs of my life. No way am i going to be doing that and enter the rat race knowing that i’ll be entering one.

Whenever things don’t look good, reflect upon the reasons why you are in this industry, fighting with all the major super affiliates about earning money online and you’ll find that source of energy that’ll push you forward to success.

For me, i have a very simple short term goal and that’s to purchase my dream car.. Its not exactly a super expensive sports car, so i think its very possible that i might own one just one fine day.

This car cost SGD$139,000 in my country and i’m giving myself 2 yrs to get this car and the requirement that i set for myself is to have $100,000 in my bank account and to earn 5 figure consistenly for 6 months before i will be qualified to head down to the car dealer shop and buy this car! haha i’m like still far from this requirement but i have 2 more yrs to achieve that so i would work even harder to make sure i achieve my goals.

Just a little goal for myself to motivate me and push me forward when i feel down. What’s your goal and motivation in life?

Recently i have been checking ebay’s own affiliate program out and what i must say is that it definitely looks promising and have potential to earn a nice chunk of income from Ebay. Afterall, ebay’s like the world largest shopping place on the Internet.

So how does EPN works? Basically, it works in a very simple concept of driving traffic to ebay via your affiliate link and when a user successfully purchase anything from Ebay, you will get a cut of the commission. The commission may not seems very high but be aware that there are definitely very high priced item selling on Ebay and you might just hit one or two of them in a while. Ebay affiliate cookie last for 7 days, meaning if anyone that is sent to ebay by your link purchase something from Ebay, you will still get your deserved commission.

However, there are many restrictions on EPN program and they are catching up on people who drive traffic via the illegal method like cookie stuffing and ppc redirect etc. But there’s no need to be afraid if you are just driving normal legal traffic to Ebay.

In 2005, many Internet Marketers dreams and hope were dashed when Google Adwords introduce the Quality Score system to give people a good user experience. 3 years later, Google has changed and improved a lot on their quality score system and in Aug 2008, Google Adwords is going to update their Quality Score. Here’s what they will be changing:

1) Min Bids will be changed to Min Front Page bids.

This is good news to us. Because we will now know what is the minimum amount we have to bid in order to get into the front page of the Google search engine for that particular keyword. This will enable us to know how competitive the niche is and we can then adjust our bids to get into the front page.

2) There will no longer be such a thing call Inactive For Search status. Instead, every keyword will have its chance of appearing in the Google search engine. However, you might be getting like only one click a day or even lesser. ha

Tracking is like the most important things that you should be doing in your Affiliate Marketing business. Especially if you are a traffic broker whereby you are spending money to buy traffic.

Tracking could very well turn your campaign from a loser to a complete winner. It’s very important to know which keywords are converting for you and which keywords are losing money every single day. So even if i am losing money in the beginning of the campaign, i do not pause it because i will track and eliminate keywords that does not convert and hopefully make it a winner.

So how do i track my keywords? How do i know which keywords are converting and which ain’t? I use a software call Xtreme Conversion. Basically what it does is that i places a cookie on your website so that it can track where the user is coming from and from which keyword they are coming from.

This is how the xtreme conversion interface looks like. You install it in your own web hosting so no one other than yourself can view your stats and you can be sure that no one would steal your profitable keywords away.

Xtreme conversion will give you a tracking number for every single keyword and for every single domain that the keyword come from so that you know EXACTLY what’s converting for you.

This tool has been invaluable for me because my ppc expenses have dropped significantly ever since i have been tracking with Xtreme Conversions. Xtreme Conversion cost $97 to buy but so far it has been one of the most worthy investment that i have made in my Internet Business.

No matter which tool you decide to use, tracking is one of the most important element in PPC traffic brokering and if you are not tracking to the keyword level at this stage, then you are losing out to all your competitors and if you think why you are failing campaign after campaign, tracking might be the solution to the problem. Think about it guys.

I just happen to view one the youtube videos that my friend send over to it. It was a dance competition held in Beijing and the couple won the championship for that competition. At first i thought it was just a normal dance and dance competition are like everywhere. I would rather be watching So You Think You Can Dance in the US.

But when i read what my friend told me, i was immediately touched by what i saw. The couple was actually involved in an accident some time back and the guy lost one of his legs while the lady lost one of her arms. And yet they could dance so beautifully with so much confidence in them.

Imagine if you lost one of your legs in an accident, would you still have the courage to take up dancing or even do something that require so much of your physical body?

The message that i got back from this short video clip is that nothing can bring us down, not even the worse condition should bring us down and that no matter what happens, we should live our lives to the fullest. So this should apply also to our Internet Business, especially when failing at one campaign does not mean you would be handicapped for the rest of your life. Nothing should bring us down, if you fail at 1 campaign, then make 2 more. If you fail at 2 campaign, make 4 more and if you fail at 4 campaigns, make 8 more campaigns and you’ll eventually succeed.

What you do not realise is that everytime you fail at a campaign, you will learn something new which you will not repeat again in your next campaign. This was what i realise after failing several campaigns before finding a profitable ones. I will remember what i did not do or did wrongly in my previous campaign and make sure i do not make the same mistake again.

Also, if you are fail at one campaign, you would definitely be reading more and more information from the internet and you’ll find yourself improving and getting better after each failed campaign.

I bet for those super affiliates who are earning 5-6 figures every month from Affiliate marketing, they have definitely failed in more campaigns than anyone else before they are finally successful. Failure is just part and parcel of affiliate marketing so do not be discourage just because you are losing money from your campaigns.

Face it like the couple in the video. Be strong and nothing can stop you from getting what you want. Its the mindset and its the hunger for success that will bring you through.

As a business owner, which of this is the most important aspect of your business? I’m sure most people will agree with me that its definitely profit. If you were to earn $5,000 a month in sales but your ad spend is a whopping $4,000, then that’ll leave you with $1,000 profit. And if you were to generate $3,000 in sales and your ad spend is only $1,500, then you would have earned yourself $500 more profit.

Of course, if you were to generate a higher monthly revenue, people will look up to you and think you are damn cool, but in actual fact, you could be earning much lesser then the person who earns only $3,000 a month.

I happen to thought about this issue when i was looking at my Adwords campaigns and realise that i was losing money on one campaign but that particular campaigns has been generating revenue for me on a daily basis. Thus i was thinking if i should just scrapped that campaign and forgo the revenue. Then it dawned upon me how stupid i was if i were to keep the campaign and continue losing money daily.

So just wanted to share with you my thoughts about revenue vs profit and that as a businessman, profit should be your main objective, not your revenue. UNLESS, you are trying to generate that high revenue as proof for your next big product launch on milking Google Adwords for profit again, because even if you are losing money now, you will earned it all back when your launch is successful with that huge long Clickbank bars.

Today i am telling you a secret that most affiliates do not know and therefore leaving a lot of money on the table. We all know that if a person buys from you, it means that there is this certain level of trust in you and that’s why he buy a product through your link. And if a person buy stuff online, it just shows that he is more open to buying things on the Internet and will therefore, buy in future if there is a need.

So what do you do with the sales that you have generated? Well, promote stuff to them and keep selling more items to them! Do you know you can get access to your customer email address when they do a purchase from your affiliate link? All you have to do is to do to your Clickbank Transaction tab and click on download CSV file. From there, you are able to see all the email address that your customer use when making the order and this email would definitely be a email that he will check often because that’s where he wants to receive his download for his purchase.

This is what i do. After getting all the email, i will sort them out into the different niches and look for products to promote to them! For example, if i am selling a Xbox 360 repair guide book, all the customers that i have would definitely be interested in stuffs related to xbox 360! So i will go look for products like xbox 360 latest games or accessories parts and sell to them again.

Do not underestimate the power of this strategy and this strategy alone has made me lots more money which i would otherwise not be able to earn if i just left my gold pot in my Clickbank report.

Go make some extra money and stop leaving money on the table!
